One Filk, Two Filk, Old Filk, New Filk

Welcome to the third, and possibly last CD from me. Of course, I said that about my filkzine, Rec-Room Rhymes, and I've resumed publication on that, so one never knows, do one? This CD contains all the New Filk I've written since the last CD, which was brought out in 2007. Since then I've actually started to work out my own tunes. It's quite a departure for me, since I'm known for stealing other people's music. I didn't say the tunes were memorable, only that they're (mostly) mine.

I've also gotten away from my usual inspirations. For some reason, except for Harry Potter and the 1632 Universe, I'm just not writing filk about current movies, TV, etc. Instead, I'm writing what might be called “Cautionary Tales.” As in, do not mess with Goblins in Alaska, or crystal caves in Mexico. And I've included two prizewinners! I took Bronze in Denvention 2008, and Gold at Concertino 2009.

As for the Old Filk, most of this has never gotten onto any of my old cassettes because it didn't fit in, it wasn't really pertinent by the time I got around to recording, or I didn't think it was that good in the first place.

This is the CD I listen to (and sing along with) in the car on my daily commute. My favourite is The Wyverary, a fantastic beast in a fantastic song . But I also love Villian's Cat and Hydrogen Burns. (And one of these days I'm going to catch that red dot too!!) I only "discovered" Cat Faber a few months ago - and then looked at some of the other filk songs I love and found she had written those as well :-) Lesley Moore
